Acrobatic Sussex report
Sussex championships 2026 was the first competition of the season for most clubs, and it was a great way to start! We had over 200 brilliant acrobats who competed, who came from Hollington, Air Acro, Bevendean, Infinity & CACL. The acrobatic competition day ran smoothly with no issues.
This year we teamed up with Tumble but we quickly realised that the venue was too small, for the large amount of gymnasts & spectators who attended. We raised £2,000 on the door and made a £4,000 profit. Due to entries of gymnasts, in the future unless Acro and tumble move to a bigger venue, I feel as though we should do separate competitions.
Again, we had a brilliant balloon display & joined by DE Photos who constantly support us & come to our competitions. The gymnasts and spectators loved having their photos taken with the balloon display, as it added extra fun to the day.
We have a date for our South East Regionals Championships 2026, which will take place on November 28th & 29th, at Burgess hill. We are still too early into the season for a National Qualifiers date.
Nikki and mark did the budget sheet this year, so have no info on that.

Sussex Tumble Report
The start of the new season is underway with the first competition being Sussex Champs. This was held last Sunday 12th October at Hollington gym club. This year tumble joined with Sussex Acrobatic and what a day it was.
We had over 400 gymnasts taking partthroughout the day over both disciplines, with 194 gymnasts on tumble alone.
This year we welcomed Wickers to tumble and was great to have them compete along side Be Gymnastics, Bevendean, Hollington, CACL and Sky High. Unfortunately Dyson were not able to take part this year as busy with festivals.
DE Photos were able to attend and were very busy. We will get a percentage figure from them as normal and that should be known in the next few weeks. Fine Designs cancelled at the last moment, so no Jumpers or t shirt memento this year.
The budget sheet is still being finalised but we took over £2,000 on door entry alone and with entry fees from gymnasts, we anticipate to make roughly £4,000 profit on this comp.

While it was a fantastic day for all taking part, tumble will not be joining with acro again in the future. The numbers are now just too high on both disciplines within Sussex for this to be viable, as it makes for a very long day for everyone.
Future dates -
Hollington will be hosting their Annual Invitational tumble and acro comp weekend of 30th & 31st January 2027.
South East have now release dates for this year's competition season, starting with qualifier 1 on 22nd November 2026 at Jumpers Rebound, Gillingham.
Qualifier 2 on 17th january 2027 at Jumpers, Gillingham
Qualifier 3 on 28th February at Jumpers, Gillingham
SE Champs on 4th April at Jumpers, Gillingham
3Cs event on 6th June at Milton Keynes
English champs finals will again be in Telford in May and the IRCC final back in Birmingham in July.
Trophies-
We are trying to locate all the old tumble shields and trophies so that they can be stored safely and new ones made with the correct grades etc ready to use in 2027.
If any clubs gymnasts have gained these in the past couple of years can they look into returning them to either Nikki at hollington or Mark at sky high
T-shirts
We are still looking at purchasing reps tops (as agreed at previous meetings), which will be stored at either sky high or Hollington. These tops will be available for anyone to use who is attending competitions in the future as Sussex reps.

Women’s Report – October 2026
Over 140 gymnasts competed over the 2 Sussex Championships weekends, representing 9 different clubs.
South East Regional Championships in September saw 8 Sussex based clubs represented with 1 gymnast selected to represent the South East at National Challenge Finals in November.
There is a potential judging workshop looking to be held the final weekend of November. An email has been sent out asking for possible numbers that may attend from each club. In order to judge in the region judges are required to have attended a regional workshop as well as taking the online course/assessment.
Adam Folwell will be attending the next county squad in November which will be a great experience for the gymnasts as well as providing valuable knowledge for coaches. Adam has previously had European, World and Olympic gymnasts that he has coached and is now running his own coaching consultancy.

Sussex Welfare Report October 2026
Firstly, a quick reminder that when recruiting new Coaches/Officials/helpers etc to always apply for a new DBS for the applicant before they start rather than rely on an existing DBS from the update service. The update service only updates every 9 months so the DBS presented could be up to 9 months “out of date” and there has been an example of an applicant (not in gymnastics !) deliberately using this “loophole” to conceal a recorded offence.
ACTIVE Sussex have a Club conference on Thursday 19th November (10am to 3pm) at the AMEX Stadium in Brighton.

We both have full-time jobs and try to commit as much as we can to the County. Attending County competitions requires as much notice as possible as we juggle work and family commitments. If we commit to a competition, it is very frustrating if we are told a few weeks before that “our services are no longer required”.
If Competitions are utilising different Welfare officers, a report should be sent to Emily so if there any issues they can be looked at by the committee.
At the Sussex Trampoline Championships at the weekend, it was the usual issues. Coaches and Gymnasts wearing jewellery (all happily removed them without complaining). The warm up mats seemed to attract gymnasts plus other youngsters. Several times they were reminded to move. Coaches must supervise their gymnasts at the correct time and, as a suggestion, a volunteer should stop unauthorised youngsters from going on the mats at other times. Signs put up stating that mats are for Coach supervised warm up only, would help any volunteer to move people on who shouldn’t be on there.

Sussex Gymnastics County Treasurers Report
1st April to 30th September 2026
At the end of September, three competitions have been completed with income and expenditure finalised and three more to take place within a few weeks.
All the competitions are well managed and give a return to the County once all costs have been paid.
There have been 23 applications for training grants from 6 different clubs so far, with another application in progress. Grants requested are for Foundation to Level 3 coaching courses in the main.
19 gymnasts from 3 clubs have benefitted from the High Performance funding, 16 representing GB at the Team Gym European championships, 2 selected to attend the Loule Trampoline Cup as part of the England squad and 1 for selection and attendance at the GB squad for 2026. A huge well done to these gymnasts and their Coaches and wonderful that Sussex Gymnastics is able to support all of them in this very practical way.
The Sussex finances are very healthy with adequate reserves to cover any major unexpected expenditures.
Suggestions are invited from clubs as to how Sussex can further help all gymnasts and clubs across the County.

County Treasurer
