Sussex Welfare Report
We are still finding awful lot of parents are taking videos and photos of children that aren’t their own as they feel it is good to take it back to club and analyse it to see if it can help their child to improve and beat those they are against whilst we can understand this please can we send a message to clubs to state that this isn’t allowed and they must only video/photograph their own child.
We’ve had several calls recently from clubs within Sussex asking for help with the behaviour of parents within their clubs. Could we please reiterate that
Then this can really help no end to give you back the rights of owning a business .

Acrobatic Sussex Report- Feb 2026
Our acrobatic Sussex championships took place on October 26th. This year our championships was definitely the best year we have run it. The outcome of gymnasts had risen by 59 gymnasts/ entries. Last year we had 129, this year we managed to get 188 entries, this is due to having 2 more clubs in Sussex enter. Financially the competition was a great success, for example, we tripled the entrance money that was expected, and total expenses were lower than expected. Bringing a great overall income into the Sussex bank.
Overall, the competition had a great atmosphere and judges, and other officials were happy. A special mention to Mike from welfare for coming down and being our welfare officer for the day. Mike's feedback after the competition was really positive and we had no welfare issues.
The acrobatic clubs in Sussex are due to take place in national qualifiers in march. Hopefully Sussex will have be successful in qualification, for national finals this year. I will let everybody know how we do at the next meeting.

Sussex Tumble Report
Lots of Sussex clubs attended the 1st regional qualifier at the end of December and gained good scores to hopefully secure themselves a place in the finals later this year. The 2nd qualifier took place at the weekend, again with good scores being achieved throughout all levels. The 3rd qualifier in March will then decide who is representing South East in the IRCC finals being held in Birmingham and also who has qualified for English Championships this year being held in Telford.
Sky High have gained a new tumble coach – Kerry who was based at Dyson’s Gymnastics club, has moved and so is now helping Sky High to increase and move forward with their tumble squad. Sky High has also recently purchased a fast track to help with training.
Dyson have stepped down from high level tumble and are concentrating more on Team Gym and festivals. They will still compete club level tumble but will not be participating in any regional competitions, due to not having a qualified tumble coach within the club now.
Hollington have recently purchased a new track topper for their main tumble track. Feedback from gymnasts on this is positive as the impact on joints is less due to the carpet being softer.
Hollington recently held their annual tumble invitational - Dyson, Sky High, Be Gymnastics, Bevendean CACL all attended and had great results from over the weekend. 1066 were not able to take part in this competition due to having coaches on courses.
This years Sussex Championships will be held at Hollington, date TBC. Tumble will be joining Acrobatic and having 1 event rather than being separate this year.
Hollington and Be Gymnastics have recently gained new level 1 tumble coach’s as well as new club judges.
Judges always needed, so please can all clubs encourage parents to take part in these courses.

Sussex Gymnastics County Treasurers Report
1 April to 31 December 2025
At the end of the year there is no activity all competitions have finished and agreed financially with the respective organisers.
This year has again been very successful adding funds to the county account, while at the same time recognising and rewarding the effort put in by those organisers and judges as without their commitment competitions would not take place.
This has enabled us to continue are efforts to make “Sussex Great” by using those funds to invest in our training grants and high-performance grants to gymnasts at all levels within Sussex.
To date 11 Clubs have received our 50% grants towards their training costs as well as 6 gymnasts who have been selected to attend their country development squads
Other activities to raise our profile include purchasing kit for the team that entered the International Rushmoor competition, the balloon arch at the Acro comp, and supporting our Welfare officer to attend the national conference.
If you have a training event you want support for then please look at the training page on the county web site to find out what is available.
Finally, a further £5000 has been transferred to the savings account, this will enable us to get interest on our money which in turn helps to invest for the future.
Keith Walter
County Treasurer
